Art tour with the artist
Slava Korolenkov

11 to 18 November 2018
1200 Eu
Our art tour will be in the amazing Syracuse, a city of magnificent baroque of the XVIII century. We can see one of the last paintings of Caravaggio, find the grave of Archimedes, test freshly prepared ricotta with cool Sicilian wine in the local market…

Impressionism fits in well with the landscapes of Sicily. There are so different, airy, elusive...
We will write several paintings and sketches of Sicilian landscapes under the leadership of Slava Korolenkov. We have 4 master classes 6 hours each. We will study his impressionism style and techniques, and, perhaps, we even find our personal style.

What we are going to paint
Look at his master class
Every day of our master class starts with a demo. I explain how the painting works and help you to understand how it works. I'm writing a detailed explanation of how I make my brushstrokes work and why I do it. Then I will give my students a task and they have to paint their works. They work under my control tall he time. I review their work and explain any mistakes that they have made. At the end of the session we discuss their final works.

I like it when one of my students explodes with enthusiasm. Suddenly an artist is born before my eyes. That does not happen often but it happens! And for the student, and for me it's a holiday. I believe that you need to study at someone whose work you like. You will grow as an artist if the world for you is like school or academy.

What have we time to do:

  • Write a few pictures under the leadership of the artist Slava Korolenkov.
  • Admire the magnificent baroque of Syracuse, its small island of Ortigia with its narrow streets and obligatory flower pots.
  • See the one last of the of Caravaggio's works in the church of Saint Lucia.
  • Test a cannoli siciliani and fresh baked ricotta in the local market and drink Sicilian wine.
  • Spend the whole day in Taormina - a charming and a romantic town. Here, every street, cafe or shop is like an art object.
  • To see one of the most mysterious cities of Sicily - Noto. We will try to fix this mystery in our paintings on our master class on November 14.
